Fuensanta Méndez: Ensamble Grande

Fuensanta Méndez is a singer, double bassist, improviser and composer Fuensanta Méndez born and raised in the water forest of Veracruz (Mexico) to an artistic family. She grew up surrounded by traditional Latin-American and contemporary European music, dance, theater and books. At thirteen she decided to be a singer and began studying and performing jazz, at fifteen she started writing poetry.

Fuensanta currently works mainly with her project Ensamble Grande, which she describes as her “international family of rare birds.” “A performance in which my music and poetry serve as a thread embodied by brilliant improvisers. “ As a NAJ Talent in Residence, NAJ supports Fuensanta and her Ensamble Grande on a number of fronts in the development of her career. Stay tuned for updates!
